Cut

A cut is the most basic and common transition — an instantaneous switch from one shot to another with no visual effect. Jump cuts (intentionally jarring cuts within the same shot) are popular in short-form content for maintaining energy and pacing. The average short-form video uses a cut every 2-3 seconds.
